i could not resist...

Our friend Ming announced today that he plans to "go out and photograph as many of these covers as possible to see if there is a consistency in design or if it is all random". So when I spotted these ones on the sidewalk in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I had to snap that shot. I just had to.

Don't forget to visit my fellow New York bloggers - so many different eyes for such an ecclectic city! See my personal favorites on the right hand side section. Enjoy!

Are these paintings or are they rubbings done in color, like gravestone rubbings? I have collected a few pictures of manhole covers, etc. along with the street medallions I occasionally publish. I have found a lot of variety, some are for electric, phone, water, cable, and god knows what because some simply have no markings, but they are usually interesting and easy to overlook.

I got another interesting photo of the manhole cover this weekend despite the weather. :-)

Am posting it for tomorrow.

•marley: he, he... thank you.
•clueless: gravestone rubbing. what's that? Not sure how it's done but look's like a stamp I agree. You're right, I never realized they were so interesting. This blog thing is rather making me look up than down.
•ming: that was a great find, mister!
•olivier: il t'en manque un comme ça pour ta collection. ;)
•claudine: mais avec plaisir! Merci de commenter régulièrement sur mon humble petit coin du net. :)
