pure poetry

With the last beautiful days, what better way to end a day than to savour a delicious gelato?

I am taking this reporter job very seriously and testing for you cassata siciliana and marrons glacés. Both absolutely delicious. Ah the sacrifices we do in the name of blogging...

If you want to know where to sample the best gelato in the city and have an idea of the queue you will be dealing with, read my post here.

Tiramisù and zabaglione for me please, on a waffle cone.

Marrons glacés, yum!

That does it. I'm making zabaglione tonight.

It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it. And I guess you're elected!

What a nice-looking menu. I like the style in which it is presented.

Do New Yorkers queue/line up in an orderly manner or some do jump the queue/line?

In Sillypore, people LOVE forming queues over anything. And I mean anything. A few years back, Macdonalds was giving away free Hello Kitty plush toys with every meal and the queue was the longest you will ever see on this planet. Some even fought in the queue and the police had to be called in! They can also queue for public housing application, school admission, by-invitation designer sales, etc.

Sillyporeans, what can I say.

Didn't make the zabaglione (ran out of Marsala) but... I had some great prunes so I made... Can you guess?

BTW, I just noticed the ice cream prices. A tad expensive, I'd say.

Photolicious, if you are reading, would you tell me what "by-invitation designer sales" are? Thanks.

•fénix: you ran out of Marsala? Oh no! You made a prune compote? Yum! Or a pie? Or a mousse? Oh come on, do tell! The suspense is killing me!
Oh, and you may think it's expansive (I did too) but, once you have tasted it, you understand. I actually do not buy any ice cream. I'd rather much not have any for a month but have one good gelato like this. Every single person I introduced to this shop is a firm believer now.
•clueless: I am taking this task very seriously and am ready to invest some effort into it. Someone's gotta do it, indeed. ;)
•photolicious: you have a good eye: indeed, at the bottom of the menu it reads "please form line to the right". If you click on the link, it will direct you to a previous post I did on this. You'll see the line totally disorganized and on the left. It was two blocks long. Now that temperatures are cooling down a bit, lines are shorter.

Do they do take-aways - I believe you call them take-out?? Any flavour would do. Have you tried pineapple - I tried it in Venice and it was wonderful although the setting did help!!!!

Your next assignment is to find the best pizza in NYC. After that, the best burger in NYC. :-)

•jules: yes, they do - within a certain perimeter. I guess standing in line for 30/+ minutes is part of the experience too - makes you feel as if you earned it. ;) They are only there for a few months, so pinapple has not come up in the monthly flavours yet. I will make sure to keep a close eye on this. ;)
•ming: my kind of challenge!! :)

Gelato is something I can never get enough of!

by-invite designer sales: you get an invite to attend the big brand boutique preview sales.
