For some reason, that tree reminds me of Six Feet Under, the series on HBO. It had a wonderful tree in its opening credits.
This was taken from the window of the Acela, the high-speed train running from Boston to Washington DC. I took it earlier this week for a business trip and snapped this picture on my way back to New York. I have no clue where it was exactly and it is probably not technically New York City. But, as this is one of the things you can easily do from NYC (hop on a train in Penn Station and head to DC or Boston), I'll include it here.

This has a dynamic quality to it, the movement. I always visit your site and your photos have a good view of NYC, and here, outside of NYC.

How did you like the service? I love trains and much prefer them to planes. Our train trip to NYC in 2000 was fun (but it was a regular train).

Too speedy, it seems!
For the birthday, only at 64...
Have a great weekend!

Photographic impressionism, 21st century style. I like it.

You have to work today?!?! Poor girl!?!?

Yes, it's 2 PM and I'm still at home because of the rain. I will probably go out later when the rain stops....if it ever stops.

What's the rain in New York like? Light drizzly kind that falls like snow?

In Sillypore (located near the equator), we experience frequent thunderstorms. Those rain that come down on your skin like knives (no kidding!) They're mighty heavy and painful.

P.S.: Eliane, will I get by in Brussels with some French, or do I need to speak Dutch?

Thanks for stopping bye and for the comments.

I see you have added an iPhone - having fun?

The vacation was great - thanks for asking. Lots of high speed train travel across Europe (the only way to go), lots of coffee, great places and amazing ice-cream in Italy.

Of course each of us has different feeling. To me a unique tree over the top of a hell remind me to "My Africa" --- I hope you're well and you're back here soon ^-^

That opening scene from Six Feet Under was iconic and whenever I see a tree on a hill like that it reminds me of the show. I liked the show, especially for the opening - sometimes it was great, though macabre the way they would kill them off:)

•gwen: thank you very much! Glad we see the moverment, as it was going pretty fast. ;)
•fénix:oooh, you asked the question. I'd say the service was fine. I'd say that this is the type of serrvice we have in a regular train in Belgium, but that wouldn't be kind. I'd say that the speed is not exactly high-speed as we are used in Europe, but that wouldn't be considerate. I'd say this is what I call a train and not like those medieval commuter poubelles of the NJ Transit, and that would be true. ;)
•gmg: nah, not very speedy. Hey, I hear Oprah said 30 was the new 20, 40 the new 30, so 64 must be the new 50. Barely an adult. ;)
•lynette: oh thank you very much. I absolutely love those comments that make it seems as if I had any idea of what I am doing. :)))
•ming: ah well, that's what happens when you have bus.trips lined up. No, I am not whining. ;)
•photolicious: rain is fine I guess. Certainly not as you describe. No worry: you'll be fine with English as most people speak it in Brussels. French works too as Brussels is mainly French-speaking (to the big disappointment of Flemish politicians).
•olivier: welcome back! Oh boy, tu l'as échappé belle! On remettra ça l'année prochaine.
•john: oh yeah, having lots of fun with the iPhone. Steve Jobs should hire me as spokesperson, I must have sold a few dozens for him. Welcome back! :)
•fabrizio: you mean with Merryl Streep and Robert Redford? What a lovely movie, very romantic and beautifully shot. I can see why you associate it to that. :)
•clueless: Did you see the making of of the opening credits of SFU? I just love how everything is choreographed, how the wheels are turning right on the music, how everything is carefully measured. Amazing. I am a big fan of that series. So original. Yes, macabre but they managed to make you smile at those macabre scenes, which is quite something. You actually try to guess how those people would end up and you can never be right. And such great acting! See, I just started and could go on... ;)
