What are those people looking at? Like you, I was wondering. So I asked. And found out.
This is the spot:

And this is, er... pale male? ... or, er... lola? Ah well, one of them.

Now, let me tell you a bit more about the most famous couple of the Upper West Side. About two years ago, Pale Male and Lola had to find new living arrangements. Their nest was removed from the Fifth Avenue apartment building it had occupied for 11 years (read about it here). They have now been the happy residents of the Beresford at 211 Central Park West for over a year (read about it here).

Love it, love it! Curiousity satisfied in moments. What a great post.
Dans central park, il y avait un vendeur qui proposait pour quelques dollards de faire voir ce faucon via des jumelles. C'est une vraie star ce faucon. Les liens sont superbes merci
I didn't know they had moved over to the west side! I've looked for the hawks in the park but I don't think I've ever seen one of them in person. I would love to see one flying by!
I like Lola's name, but Pale male is not a very imaginative name for her honey. Why not Joe? At least that would go better with Lola. Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets.... :)
This is such a huge deal for some people. I just don't see it. Woody must be so glad they finally removed the birds (I would be too!).
Fenix :) I feel the same, but different strokes....
Bottom line is that we like to peep! :)
C'est trop mignon l'histoire de ces 2 petits faucons ! Pourvu qu'ils vivent longtemps à New-york !
How amazing. What a great story - and photos.
Totally unrelated, but... Remember I was telling you about that amazing song I had come across and that I was looking for the translation? Well, a few weeks passed by and nothing; I thought it'd be better to feature the song on my blog with the lyrics, but I gave up and just put it on my sidebar with a little explanatory note. Guess what? Just a few minutes ago my uncle posts the translation in a comment!!! Just like that. ROTFL! Geez! I had no idea this singer was so big in France. Anyway, listen to it, when you have a minute, I think you'll like it. Half way through the song, when the rhythm gets going, I get goosebumps, always! :)
• thank you all for visiting my little corner of the web, Your comments always amuse me. As every New Yorker, I had vaguely heard about Pale Male and Lola's stories. It was fun to research it for this post. I had no idea these birds had to relocate. I'd say they're smart: between the UES and the UWS, my choice is clear too. ;)
This is an interesting post, Eliane, the story about the birds. Why did they relocate them to the other building. When you go on Christmas holiday in Belgium please take lots of photographs for your American friends.
The things we learn with those daily posts, he? If you want to learn more as to the whys and hows, I recommend the links I posted in this entry.
Hmm, I'll try to take some pictures while in Belgium. Although his blog is not anout Brussels. So I'll have to find a way.
