This was taken exactly a month ago on Lexington Avenue and 57th, I think. Yellow cabs are always fun to capture. Now you know that we are really in New York, right?
one city - one day - one picture (well, not religiously but I try)

That's a great action shot! It really captures the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. I see one of the flower cabs too. You don't see them as much any more, but I thought they were colorful.
This is new york, I see that taxis are always in bloom. A beautiful picture in motion, bravo
Thanks for stopping at my blog and commenting.
Talking about being in NYC and Yellow Cabs reminds me that when I was last in Tokyo in 1954, I think it was, there were lots of people walking, few cars and trucks, more buses, and a taxi there was something else. If you took one somewhere they drove wide open, flat out, pedal to the metal. Like their Kamikaze cousins, the people fell back out of the way as the horn blared constantly. It was something people with strong hearts die of-fright. They didn't have many traffic lights then either.
I like the motion in your picture.
Are the yellow cabs yellow? Or are cabs just called yellow cabs? Cabs are all different colors in Boston...
••• Merci à toutes et à tous. Thank you all for your visit. Gracias. :)
• lori: I loved the flower cabs. They were so cute and fun! We still see them around.
• olivier: merci.
• abe: I always enjoy reading your stories. they are always interesting and entertaining. Thank you.
• clue: ah oui, they are indeed yellow! Which is why they are called yellow cabs. These are the official taxis of the city. You can read on their license plates the letters TC (or TLC?), which stand for the Taxi & Limousine Commission. The black limo's and the stretched ones have that too. While the gypsie cabs can be of any color. You can find them around the airports and the other boroughs (Queens, The Bronx, etc). They do not look like taxis. When you see a cab of a different color than yellow, it is usually from the Tri State area but not NYC (NJ, CT). I think they are allowed to bring passengers in the city but not to pick any on their way back to their state.
That's a real city in action.
Yes, the taxis is a dead giveaway. :-)
Nice photograph for the taxi motion but also how you have an intersection in the photograph.
I like the action on this image. Good image.
