tonight at the apollo

253 W125th St - map it here
And a walk in Harlem would not be complete without a picture of the iconic Apollo sign. Above is the view from the sign walking towards the east and below, towards the west side.
I cannot believe that I have never been to the Apollo yet. We shall have to remedy to that prontissimo.

So which artist may have enough pull to get you into the Apollo?

I think I'd like to go to their amateurs night. Could be a fun experience. I wouldn't have minded seeing Usher at that sold out show either. Nice to see that he had chosen that venue for one of his shows.

I've never been either. But I've watched the talent shows that are taped at the Apollo when they are on TV late Saturday nights.

Wow, you really caught the neon against the sunset so well. And the detail of the background sign behind Usher too. Just the right snap in time!

Oh man, Art Tatum at the APPOLLO. That venue is legendary. I would go to even if it was to see the Cricket from Times Square play there. It's like the Ryman in Nashville. . .the history of performers that have filled that hall with sound, that's what I'd want to connect with. I like that Usher is playing there, keeping current while paying tribute to the giants.
