shh!... meeting in progress

meeting in progress
Christie's - 20 Rockefeller Plaza - New York, NY 10020 - map it here

Saturday afternoon, I was in the Rockefeller Center area. Actually, I was buying books at the Librairie de France (more on this later this week). And as always when I am around there, I somehow find myself either at La maison du chocolat or at Christie's, if it is open and if there is something to see. It was open and they had something to see. They call it "Asian week" - lots of artworks on view for upcoming auctions that will take place at Hong Kong and New York.
I spotted this sign on a door: "meeting in progress". Inside that room, someone is meeting with Christie's experts, they may even have brought their own, to view one of the pieces. I was tempted to wait and see who would exit the room. But then I thought, what's the point? My favourite piece was still hanging on the opposite wall after all.
I am thinking buying this. You like?

The label reads:

I love Yue Matyan's work. I saw a couple of his paintings at the Asia Society a couple months ago and thought they have a great sense of humor.

If I had $2 million, I would buy a print of that painting and hang it in my $1 million house. I'll use the other million to travel. :-)

I could buy an awful lot of art I actually like for that kind of money. But I'd tend more toward Ming's plan.

I think you should snatch it up. :) (Actually I kind of like it, I don't think I'd spend $2 million on it though, even if I had it!) I've always wanted to go to Christie's I must get there one day. (That's too bad about the Montauk Club, I was picturing an elegant interior to match the outside.)

Thank you muchachos!
Your comments made me laugh. I will try to keep you updated of the sale of this funny (and a tad creepy) painting. Since you like it so much...
