little poland

[*] little poland (2)
somewhere in greenpoint, brooklyn - map it here [i]
This weekend I explored Greenpoint, a Brooklyn neighborhood, also known as Little Poland. It used to be a working-class neighborhood were generation of hardworking immigrants were working in theoil refineries, glass factories and in the shipbuilding industry. Germans and Irish arrived in the mid-19th century and large numbers of Polish people began arriving before the turn of the century. So no wonder you can find your favorite Polish newspapers, restaurants were to induldge in potato pancakes, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa, pierogies, babka, ...
But if you are looking for kasety video, bilety lotnicze or ekspress paszporty dokumentow, no luck: the store seems to be closed.

I don't know if you care but kasety video means video tapes, bilety lotnicze means flight tickets, ekspress paszporty dokumentow are singular words and ekspress means express, dokumentow means documents, paszporty means passports.

ps. really good pictures and great blog. thanks
